WILD TIGER
wild tiger

The endangered Tiger is a majestic, solitary animal being the largest member of the cat family. In terms of camouflage, the Tiger is one of the best equipped of all the carnivores. Used to defend its territory, the Tiger's roar can be heard up to 2km away. A very strong swimmer, the Tiger avoids the midday sun by bathing in water. Found in hot dry scrub jungle, teak and bamboo forests and tropical mangrove estuaries all areas close to rivers and lakes. The Tiger is considered to have evolved in China over one million years ago. There are eight subspecies of Tiger the Siberian, Bengal, South China, Indochinese, Sumatran and with three already extinct, the Caspian, Bali and Javan Tigers. Legally protected against being hunted, the immediate threat to its survival is the growing demand for its parts for use in oriental medicine. Also the insidious destruction of Tiger habitat and decline of prey populations places the Tiger in severe danger of extinction.

The 'Exotica Collection' wildlife design painted by Rycki Symons portrays the beauty of the strong and striking Tiger amidst the wild exotic jungle.
